Oktoberfest

One of the many (and best) ways to bid a fond farewell to summer and welcome autumn is at Snowbird’s Oktoberfest. This seasonal event, a celebration of Teutonic foods and brewed adult beverages, is nearly 40 years old, and it’s clearly in the tasty offerings as to why it endures as a popular Utah tradition. Enjoy the mountain air, the wide variety of restaurants serving breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as food vendors offering the more traditional Germanic fare.

Snowbird also offers a number of activities beyond hiking and biking, including the aerial tram to Hidden Peak (daily Alphorn show, usually mid-afternoon), Peruvian chair lift and tunnel, Alpine Slide, ZipRider, Mechanical Bull and other nefarious contraptions designed to entertain some, terrify others (me).

Since Snowbird offers such a wide variety of activities, restaurants and lounges in a stunningly beautiful alpine setting, you may find it more expedient and enjoyable to purchase overnight accommodations, especially if you plan on partaking of the many beers available. Rooms are reasonably priced (at the time of this post) between $104 (includes two tram ticket) and $357 (includes a three-course-dinner at the Steak Pit and breakfast). Prices based on double occupancy. There are a number of mid-priced options to fit almost any need.
